Why Nagarjung Muncipality?

Nagarjun is a municipality in Kathmandu District in Bagmati Province of Nepal that was established 
on 2 December 2014 by merging the former Village development committees Bhimdhunga, Ichangu Narayan,
Ramkot, Syuchatar and Sitapaila. 
The office of the municipality is located at Harisiddhi, Sitapaila.
 
According to the decision of Nagarjuna Municipality Nepal Government dated 16th of Masinar
2071, Kathmandu district has 5 villages namely Ichangunarayan, Sitapaila, Ramkot, Suchatar
and Bhimdhunga. It has been established. To the east of it are wards no. 14, 13, 15 and 16
 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City,to the west are Dhading District, to the north is Tarkeshwar 
Municipality and to the south are Chandragiri Municipality.Geographically, this municipality
 is located between 850 12' to 850 17' east longitude and 270 40' to 270 44' north latitude.
The area of ​​the municipality is 29.8 square km.

According to the National Census 2068, the number of households in the municipality is 16,746,
 while the total population is 67,420. Among them, males are 34,064 (50.25%) and females are 
3,3356 (49.75%). As there is a trend of gradual migration from other parts of the kingdom, 
different castes and religious people live here. There are majority of Newar, Bahun Magar, 
Sanyasi and Chhetri castes in this municipality, most of the population follow Hinduism 
and Buddhism.
